Multilizer 2007 Terminology

Compressed project
A Multilizer project that is sent to translator via Exchange Wizard. The file is a compressed (zip) .m7p file.
Context
Context is a unique identifier that tells the location of the smallest localizable element in a Multilizer project. This identifier is important when checking, what parts of localization source has changed. For succesfull localization the id shouldn't change during localization process.
Exchange Package AKA "Localization Kit"
Localization Kit is created with Exchange Wizard. The kit contains the Multilizer project (or a part of it) to localize. It optionally also contains Multilizer Translator Edition setup.
Exporter
A plugin that allows exporting Multilizer project to a 3rd-party format, such as TMX. There are several exporters to support multiple export formats.
Id -> Context
Importer
A plugin that allows importing translations from several formats. Importers are used either via File->Import (see batch import) or in 'Language Expert'
Internationalization
The process of making software localizable. This involves detecting and solving problems that prevent succesful localization. Some of Multilizer scanners report internationalization issues when doing a scan.
Localization Kit -> Exchange Package
Localization source
The file(s) and/or database content being localized.
Object
A file, files, or database content, that is being localized. Since Multilizer 2007 this is the name for former 'Target'. source-language and other configurations can be set on Object level. Each object has a unique reference to a scanner that takes care of handling the interaction between Object data and the file(s) to localize.
Plugin
An application extension (dll) that adds functionality in Multilizer. E.g., 'scanner'. Without any scanners Multilizer works as free "Multilizer 2007 for Translators"
Project
Project file contains the information of files that are localized with Multilizer; it contains the settings that tell how to localize and the information of target languages along with translations.
Pseudo language
Pseudo language is a test language used for testing internationalization or localization quality of the localization source.
Scan
this command makes Multilizer update the objects; the scanner attached to an 'Object' reads the Object's file(s) to localize and checks for differences. Depending on the scanner, the scanner may return in 'scanner log' internationalization issues it has detected.
Scanner
A plugin that internally handles reading the localizable content from source file and writing out localized files. The data that is handled by a scanner is available as an 'Object' in Multilizer project.
Source language
The language of the localization source.
Target
Obsolete. This was used in Multilizer 5.x and 6.x. --> Object
Target language
The language(s) into which the original file is localized.
Themes
Multilizer 2007 allows user change the outlook by choosing different skins.
Translation Memory/Repository
This is a centralized place where translations of projects are stored. The difference with project translations is the format and the possibility to store translations of multiple projects.
